**Here’s where you come in:**

As the **Response Director, Syria Response** youwill lead World Vision’s country humanitarian and recovery response in terms of providing strategic leadership for the design, implementation and funding of World Vision’s Response across Syria and Jordan, and keep in touch with options for Turkiye while WV’s registration remains in effect. This is order to maximize impact and quality in WVI’s programmatic work.

Additionally, you will oversee the next phase of Whole of Syria approach by the Response, including continued alignment of capacity across the Response and relocation of positions and functions to Syria as appropriate; Organizing and leading the Syria Response Senior Leadership Team, ensuring that the updated strategy (FY27-28) is meeting desired goals and objectives while being well coordinated and integrated across countries in World Vision’s Syria Crisis Response.

**Requirements include:**

- A minimum of 5+ years in leadership roles with International NGOs in emergency relief, rehabilitation and transition programming.
- Demonstrated understanding of humanitarian principles, standards and best practices.
- Excellent communications and relationship management skills, with ability to express ideas and concepts clearly and persuasively with senior internal and external stakeholders.
- University degree or qualification in a relevant subject with a focus on team management, project management or other relevant skills.
- Proven track record of leading multi-cultural teams in complex, culturally and politically sensitive contexts.
- Experience in working in a large matrixed organization, combined with good understanding of how mutual accountability and collaboration works in such environments.
- Strong communication skills (oral and written) with ability to express ideas and concepts clearly and persuasively with senior internal and external stakeholders.
- Extensive experience in program management and implementation of multi-sectoral emergency response projects.
- Proven track record of growing and managing multi-million-dollar budgets.
- Politically astute and well-developed diplomatic skills (dealing with host governments, donors and staff).
- Experience working in high pressure, rapid response environments with multiple risks.
- Effective in written and verbal communication in English.
- The position is based in Damascus with 35-40% travel to the field where Syria Response’s programs operate and Jordan.
